Universal Orlando Confirms ‘Harry Potter’ Ride Closure, Effective November 4

Universal Orlando Resort is preparing to temporarily close a popular attraction, and the timing could create problems for guests planning a November vacation.

For Harry Potter fans, visiting Universal Orlando isn't just about riding roller coasters or exploring themed shops. It's about experiencing the Wizarding World as closely as possible to the stories they've loved for years. That includes traveling between two of the resort's most recognizable locations.

Unfortunately, guests visiting on November 4 will have to make other plans, as Universal has confirmed that an important Harry Potter experience will temporarily stop operating.

Universal Orlando Confirms Hogwarts Express Closure

According to Universal Orlando's official attraction information, Hogwarts Express will temporarily close on November 4, 2026. The resort currently expects the attraction to reopen on November 5, making this a scheduled one-day closure.

Hogwarts Express connects The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida with Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure.

Rather than simply transporting guests between parks, the attraction recreates the magical train journey from the Harry Potter stories. Guests can board at King's Cross Station in Universal Studios Florida or Hogsmeade Station in Islands of Adventure.

The experience also changes depending on which direction guests travel, giving visitors a reason to ride more than once.

While the scheduled closure is relatively short, it could still disappoint families who planned their visit around experiencing both Wizarding World locations in a single day.

Park-to-Park Ticket Holders Will Be Affected

One important detail makes this closure particularly frustrating for certain guests.

Unlike most attractions at Universal Orlando, Hogwarts Express requires a Park-to-Park ticket. Guests cannot board the train with admission to only Universal Studios Florida or Islands of Adventure.

That means some families purchase more expensive admission specifically because they want to ride Hogwarts Express.

Unfortunately, those visiting November 4 won't be able to experience the train if the closure proceeds as scheduled, even with the appropriate ticket.

However, Park-to-Park admission will still allow guests to visit both theme parks through their regular entrances. The closure doesn't prevent visitors from exploring Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley.

It simply removes the themed transportation experience connecting them.

Harry Potter Fans Have Even More to Consider

Planning a Wizarding World vacation has also become more complicated since Universal Epic Universe opened in May 2025.

The newer theme park introduced The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, giving fans a third major Harry Potter destination at Universal Orlando.

However, Hogwarts Express doesn't connect to Epic Universe. The train operates exclusively between Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.

Guests hoping to experience all three Wizarding World locations need to carefully review their ticket options and park schedules before arriving.

For those visiting November 4, that planning becomes especially important.

Universal currently expects Hogwarts Express to resume operations November 5. Guests should continue checking official attraction information for updates, particularly because refurbishment schedules can change.

A single-day closure might not seem significant, but for families visiting Universal Orlando specifically to experience the Wizarding World, losing even one attraction can change an entire vacation day.
