A Disney park is preparing to close one of its most unusual attractions.
Few Disney attractions have survived as many decades, versions, and creative overhauls as the Enchanted Tiki Room.
The original Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room opened at Disneyland on June 23, 1963. Built around singing birds, flowers, and tiki figures, the show helped introduce sophisticated Audio Animatronics to Disney park guests.
Walt Disney initially considered turning the space into a restaurant. Instead, the concept became a theater show, allowing Disney to move larger numbers of guests through the attraction while still showcasing the new technology.
The format later spread beyond California. Magic Kingdom opened Tropical Serenade alongside Walt Disney World on October 1, 1971. The Florida version remained relatively close to the original concept until Disney dramatically reworked the attraction decades later.
In 1998, Tropical Serenade became The Enchanted Tiki Room (Under New Management), adding Iago from Aladdin and Zazu from The Lion King.
That version proved controversial with longtime Disney fans. Disney eventually replaced it in 2011 with a show that more closely resembled the original Enchanted Tiki Room.
Another Disney park took the attraction in an entirely different direction.
Enchanted Tiki Room Closure Countdown Begins
Tokyo Disneyland currently operates The Enchanted Tiki Room: Stitch Presents Aloha E Komo Mai!, a version of the classic show centered around Stitch.
That attraction will close to all guests beginning September 24, 2026.
With the closure now just 14 days away, guests have a limited window to see the Adventureland show before it temporarily disappears from the Tokyo Disneyland lineup.
Tokyo Disney Resort describes the attraction as “an enchanting show with Hawaiian birds [that] gets interrupted when that mischievous Stitch appears”.
Stitch joined the attraction in 2008, replacing The Enchanted Tiki Room: Now Playing Get The Fever!.
That earlier version had debuted in 1999, itself replacing Tokyo Disneyland’s original interpretation of the Enchanted Tiki Room.
The upcoming closure is temporary. Tokyo Disney Resort currently lists the attraction as unavailable from September 24 through October 23, with the show expected to reopen on October 24, 2026.
That means guests visiting during the monthlong shutdown should once again be able to experience the attraction beginning in late October.
However, the temporary closure arrives as questions continue to surround the longer-term future of Adventureland.
Bigger Changes Could Eventually Reach Adventureland
Those questions largely date back to April 2025, when Tokyo Disney Resort operator Oriental Land Company released its 2035 Long Term Management Strategy.
The company outlined plans for continued investment and large-scale changes across Tokyo Disney Resort over the following decade.
Early concept art accompanying those plans appeared to show significant changes to areas of Tokyo Disneyland, particularly Adventureland and Westernland.

Several existing attractions were either difficult to spot or absent from the artwork altogether.
The Enchanted Tiki Room was among the attractions that immediately attracted attention. Jungle Cruise, Western River Railroad, and the Swiss Family Treehouse – now closed for several years without explanation – were also missing or unclear in the proposed layout.
The artwork also appeared to include new areas potentially inspired by Disney and Pixar franchises such as Up, The Incredibles, and Moana.
Oriental Land Company has not confirmed that The Enchanted Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise, Western River Railroad, or Swiss Family Treehouse will permanently close.
The concept art, therefore, should not be treated as a confirmed construction plan.
Still, Tokyo Disney Resort has already begun moving forward with other major attraction changes.
Tokyo DisneySea will permanently close Aquatopia in Port Discovery on September 14, 2026, creating space for an attraction that has not yet been announced.
That closure has made fans pay closer attention to other parts of the 2035 vision as the resort gradually reshapes both parks.
For The Enchanted Tiki Room, however, nothing permanent has been announced.
